| May. 9th, 2009 06:43 pm Wow, just wow! We are back at the house, awaiting pizza for a relaxed post-Graduation dinner.
What an incredible day it has been!!!
It was beautiful here this morning, but as time for the ceremony approached, it started to get cloudy and windy, and was raining lightly as we drove to the campus. It stopped long enough for all the grads to process into the HUGE tent, and then the rain came down so loudly that we barely heard the president when he said that he had been told that there were thunderstorms in the area and we would have to all move inside and wait out the storm. We met Rich in the Commuters Lounge, which we had to ourselves while most everyone else was packed into hallways and the gym and the weather raged outside. At last, the decision was made that the graduation would be inside, in the gym. We found a great spot in the "announcer's booth" where we could see and hear. Then the president came up and said it was awfully crowded in the gym, could everyone not an actual parent should go to another spot and watch on the video feed... and then, almost immediately he said another change of plans, and we all trouped back out to the tent. There were about 500 graduates, and all their families and friends, as well as the faculty, but everyone took it all in good humor and it gave the entire graduation a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The speakers were great, and of course I cried when my young man walked across that stage (didn't see your advice, Raven, but, happily, I had a paper towel in my bag). Rich has worked so hard, and done so very well, and I can't stop saying how proud I am of him!
as the candidates walked the stage, and the wind picked up, I started to worry about the tent... watching the 50 foot support pole next to me actually lift off the ground! It was a little scary, but I wasn't going to miss one moment of the ceremony, including the joyous ending!
after it was over, there was much hugging and greeting and photographing, and then we walked down to the theater department reception for more of the same. as we were leaving, we heard sirens and big engines and were told that the tent had collapsed, fortunately with only minor injuries.
Rich has never done anything the "easy" way. He has always been extra challenged by crazy circumstances and has always overcome them. He is the only person I have ever met who could truly, honestly claim the title of Palladin... a good and pure young man who deserves only the best in his future.
I love you, Rich. You are my joy. And I cannot imagine a more incredible Mother's Day gift!
Pizza's here! Current Location: Kendon Road Living Room Current Mood: indescribable Current Music: chatter, and laughter, and Rich singing his Alma Mater in a crazy falsetto!

| Apr. 15th, 2009 10:58 am I hate lies. Do not lie to me, because, inevitably, I will know the truth and am unlikely to ever trust you again. It makes me sad that you think so little of me that you would even try. There is no truth that is worse than a lie.
Deep Breath.
remember today's horoscope... Although you may not yet have a solution for a tense social situation, you are much calmer about it now. Perhaps you realize that no matter how unstable things are, you don't have to get swept up in other people's dramas. Naturally, you must do what's necessary to survive, but you can actually contribute in a positive way by being the anchor in someone's storm.
Deep Breath and hard work to clear the head.
